Project Scope, Schedule, and Budget
Develop scope, schedule, and budget. This content will become part of the final project management plan to be submitted in Topic 8.
This assignment will require you to use Microsoft Project, which is available in the Course and topic Resources. In addition, read Microsoft 2010 Project Tutorials I and II, available in the topic Resources prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the use of the Microsoft Project software.
A project’s scope is the work to be completed by the project team. This may include specific requirements, features, functionality, or standards for the product or system to be delivered. Scope management provides assurance that the project’s work is defined accurately and completely and that it is completed as planned.
Project time management is important for developing, monitoring, and managing the project’s schedule. It includes identifying the project’s phases and activities, and estimating, sequencing, and assigning resources for each activity to ensure that the project’s scope and objectives are met.
Project cost management assures that the project’s budget is developed and completed as approved.
Using the case study selected for the previous assignments, review either the “Husky Air – Pilot Angels” or the “The Martial Arts Academy – School Management System” extended case study content at the end of Chapters 5 and 6 in the textbook. Using the guidelines presented in the textbook, create the following deliverables.
Using Microsoft Project, create a work breakdown structure (WBS) by listing all of the project life cycle and systems development life cycle phases and the associated deliverables you defined.
Develop a scope management plan.
Using the WBS that you created in step 1, assign a cost for each resource based on the project infrastructure. Link the tasks and optimize the schedule. Include the associated Microsoft Project file with your assignment submission.
Develop a project schedule and budget.
